Welcome to Lectionary.org!
Lectionary Preaching Resources: Exegesis and free sermons for clergy who use the lectionary. Also children's sermons, hymn lists , and hymn stories coordinated with the lectionary.
Making every minute count : This site brings together a host of resources to help the busy pastor make every minute of sermon preparation time count.
Free: While a username and password (available with a SermonWriter subscription) is required to access part of these resources, much is also available free of charge.
SermonWriter: Much of the material available here was prepared originally for SermonWriter, a lectionary resource delivered weekly by email. For more information, go to www.sermonwriter.com.
Exegesis: We have posted most of the exegesis for the Gospels and Romans and have started work on the Old Testament. We are making a concise version available without a password. (See the "Exegesis, English" link at the left.)
Sermons: We have posted hundreds of lectionary-based sermons, and plan to add 200 sermons per year. See the "Sermons" link at the left.
Sermons for special days and occasions: See the "Sermons" link at the left.
Wedding and funeral homilies: See the "Sermons" link at the left.
Children's sermons: Lois Parker Edstrom, who writes children's sermons for SermonWriter, recently agreed to make them available for posting at this site. We will post them as time permits. (See the "Children's Sermons" link at the left.)
Hymn lists: We have hymn lists for most of the passages from the Gospels and Romans, and will post them as time permits. (See the "Hymn Lists" link at the left.)
Hymn stories: We have posted more than a hundred hymn stories, and plan to add new ones as time permits. (See the "Hymn Stories" link at the left.)
Downloads of current SermonWriter materials: SermonWriter subscribers can download current issues of SermonWriter as HTML files, Microsoft Word files, or WordPerfect files (See the "Download current issues" link at the left.)
Other resources: Periodically we get ideas for resources that we could add to this site. We will expand it as funds and time permit.
BiblePlaces.com: Features photographs and descriptions of sites in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey and Greece with an emphasis on biblical archaeology, geography and history. A SUGGESTION: Go to BiblePlaces.com. Near the top of the home page, it says "Take a Tour: Why the Pictorial Library is the Best!" Click that link and take that tour!
We hope that you will find this site helpful. If you do, please tell your colleagues about it.
